Welcome to UCR's Flex Classroom Request System
UCR has created three Flex Classrooms in the Surge Building (Surge 171, 172, 173) and two rooms in the CHASS Interdisciplinary Building (INTS 1121, 1125) to allow instructors to explore a variety of innovative teaching modalities. Unique features of these rooms include lightweight furniture that is easy to configure for many different arrangements; dual projectors/technology that can be controlled separately; and whiteboards on all four walls. The Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education encourages instructors to utilize these Flex Classrooms as a platform for experimenting with various pedagogical approaches that promote student engagement and improved learning success. This web site provides information about these rooms as well as an on-line request (login now) system for faculty seeking priority access.
Timelines
Undergraduate Education is collaborating with the campus Registrar to provide priority scheduling of the Flex Classrooms to faculty who seek to optimize the resources of these rooms. Faculty who seek to enhance their pedagogy by engaging students in active learning and collaborative exercises are highly encouraged to consider using these rooms. The Office of Instructional Development and Computing and Communications are committed to providing instructional and technical support to ensure that faculty have the resources and support to use these rooms to their fullest capacity.
